I’m Mary, the photographer behind Mary-Jane Photography, and family photography is at the heart of what I do. Based in Dalserf with a cosy studio in Newmains, I specialise in creating relaxed, honest family portraits that focus on real moments rather than stiff poses. My sessions are designed to feel calm and unhurried so that parents and children can be themselves — that’s where the best images come from. My approach is simple: I spend time getting to know you before the shoot so I understand what matters most — whether you want a quiet set of portraits, playful images of the kids, or a mix of both. I guide families gently, using conversation and little prompts to capture authentic smiles, cuddles and interactions. With experience shooting newborns, babies and children, I know how to work with different ages and personalities to keep the session enjoyable for everyone. Safety and comfort are always a priority. My studio is a calm, family-friendly space where children can relax and explore. I’ve undertaken newborn posing training and hold paediatric first aid knowledge so you can feel confident leaving your little ones in experienced hands. I also photograph milestone moments such as sitter sessions and cake smash celebrations, always keeping the mood light and fun to let your child’s personality shine.
