I’m Jemma — the face behind Little Jem’s Photography — and family photography is at the heart of what I do. Based in a cosy attic studio in Hucknall, I specialise in creating relaxed, natural family portraits that feel like you: unforced, warm and full of genuine connection. As a mum to two little girls and with a background in Early Years Education, I know how to work with children of all ages — from toddlers who need time to warm up, to older kids who prefer a bit of freedom and fun in front of the camera. Before your session I’ll find out a little about your family, your preferred colour schemes and the kind of images you love. I bring a wide selection of handmade outfits, props and thoughtfully styled set-ups to ensure each session is unique. But I never force poses — instead I guide, play and wait for those authentic smiles, quiet moments and sibling interactions that make your family special. The session experience is friendly and unhurried. You’re welcome to sit back and relax while I work with the children at their pace; if someone needs a cuddle break or a second to settle, that’s absolutely fine. My studio is designed to be comfortable and child-friendly, with plenty of textures and props to inspire imaginative, joyful images. I focus on capturing natural expressions and candid moments as well as beautiful family portraits you’ll be proud to display at home. I take pride in making the whole process simple and enjoyable — from planning the look of your session to photographing your family with patience and care. While family photography is my speciality, I also offer maternity sessions and occasional portraits, always keeping the same gentle, bespoke approach.
