Hello — I’m Jo Quint, a Hitchin-based family photographer who believes the very best photos are about people, not poses. My work centres on relaxed, documentary-style family photography that lets real life unfold: impromptu cuddles, scraped-knee adventures, quiet newborn yawns and the fizz of birthday chaos. Storytelling is at the heart of what I do — I’m fascinated by relationships, family rhythms and the small, ordinary moments that become priceless with time. I don’t do scripts or stiff, manufactured poses. Instead I create an easygoing atmosphere where everyone can relax, forget the camera and be themselves. The result is natural, emotive family portraits and newborn imagery that always put feeling first. How I work: we start with a friendly chat about who will be in the photos, where you feel most comfortable, and what memories you want to keep. Sessions are tailored to your family — at home, in the Hertfordshire countryside or at a favourite local spot around Hitchin. I’ll gently guide when needed but mostly I work quietly, blending into the background and letting your story unfold. For truly documentary galleries I often spend longer with families so children loosen up and genuine moments emerge. What you’ll take away: images that transport you back to real laughs, real hugs and real life. My aim is to create a gallery you love to look through — photographs that prompt you to call your family and say, “remember when…?” I’m careful about how I use images online and always respect your wishes about sharing. A quick note on extras: pets are very welcome in family shoots (they’re part of the family after all), and I regularly photograph newborns and children as part of my family work. But my focus remains firmly on creating honest, timeless family stories rather than posed perfection.
