Hello — I’m Aarathi, the photographer behind Moonchild Portraits, based in Glen Parva near Leicester. Family photography is my heart and purpose: I make portraits that feel lived-in and true, images you’ll want to bring out on the sofa and pass down through the generations. My work is rooted in quiet, soulful moments — the small gestures, the looks between parents and children, and the seasonal light that makes an ordinary afternoon feel extraordinary. I specialise in natural outdoor family and children photography, using the landscape as my studio whenever possible. Natural light is my first love because it lets personality breathe; I tune into the subtle moods of your family and craft portraits that sit comfortably in your home and life. I’m also trained in studio lighting, so when a studio session is a better fit we bring the same calm, considered approach indoors. My sessions are relaxed, unhurried and personal. We start with a pre-session conversation to talk about clothing, locations and what matters most to you. On the day I guide rather than pose — gentle prompts, playful interactions and plenty of time so children can be children. After the shoot we meet again for an in-person viewing where you choose the images and products that feel right for your home. I care as much about the experience as the final photographs: this is the Moonchild Experience, created to be memorable from the moment we first speak. I’m passionate about creating legacy pictures — wall art and framed portraits that stand the test of time and keep your family story alive. My approach combines professionalism with warmth; expect thoughtful direction, careful post-processing and a focus on images that reflect who you are. While family and children photography is my speciality, I also occasionally work on commercial headshot and fashion projects — always keeping family work at the centre of what I do.
