I’m Lisa — the photographer behind Drawn by Light — and family photography is where my heart lives. Based in a cosy studio in Elland (just outside Halifax), I specialise in natural, relaxed family photoshoots that capture connection rather than stiff poses. Over the years I’ve been honoured to photograph generations of the same families: from maternity and newborn sessions through cake-smashes and children’s portraits, to the family pictures that hang on your walls for years to come. My style is honest and storytelling-led: I look for the moments that feel real — a quiet cuddle, a belly laugh, the tiny hands wrapped around a parent’s finger. At the studio I create a calm, welcoming environment where little ones can settle — and for newborns I follow gentle, safety-first handling and posing so parents can relax. During the shoot I guide you with easy prompts and playful direction to bring out natural interactions, not forced smiles. I love helping clients turn photos into family heirlooms — prints, framed pieces and albums that celebrate this season of life.
