Hi — I’m Emma Duggan, a family photographer based near East Grinstead, working from a studio near Gatwick and on location across West Sussex. My work is driven by a love of real moments: soulful, natural portraits in which personalities and relationships do the talking. I aim to create images that families will want on their walls for years — not just a set of posed snapshots. Why choose me? I bring more than a decade of full-time experience photographing generations: babies, toddlers, children and the families who love them. I’m known for a calm, reassuring manner (I’m often introduced as the toddler wrangler and keeper of Jelly Babies), and for helping everyone relax so that the most honest expressions appear. My approach is gentle and collaborative — I listen to what matters to you, and I shape the shoot around your family’s characters rather than imposing a rigid formula. How I work: each session starts with a chat — either in person or over Skype/phone — where we talk about who will be in the portraits, what you’d like to display at home, and practical details like wardrobes so everyone looks pulled together without being matchy-matchy. During the shoot, I encourage every family member to have a voice. Little ones can be allowed to play and imagine, and teens are given space and choices so they feel comfortable and in control. My studio sessions focus on emotive black-and-white and natural-colour portraits that emphasise character and connection. I also shoot relaxed location sessions if you prefer a favourite park or a specific part of your home. Families I’ve photographed often return year after year — I treasure watching them grow and capturing those changes. I also photograph maternity and newborn portraits as a complementary service, approached with the same sensitivity and calm.
