Hi — I’m Michael Lyons, a very relaxed, hands-on family photographer based in East Dereham. Family photography is my core focus: I’ve photographed hundreds of families of every size, from couples and newborns to full multi-generation portraits, and I love helping people create images that feel honest and timeless. Why choose me for your family photoshoot? My style is simple and personable. I aim for natural, authentic moments rather than stiff poses — the small, real interactions that tell a family’s story. Whether we’re working in my studio or on location nearby, I use a calm, conversational approach to put everyone at ease. That relaxed atmosphere helps even the most camera-shy children (and pets!) relax so you get photos that look like you, not like a set-piece. How I work with families: sessions are unhurried and flexible. I’ll guide you through gentle prompts and simple poses, but I also watch for spontaneous moments — a laugh, a cuddle, a child exploring — and capture those as they happen. I’m comfortable with newborns, toddlers and larger family groups (I’ve photographed very large gatherings in the studio) and always plan shoots so there’s time for outfit changes and short breaks when needed. For newborn shoots I take extra care and patience — little ones are unpredictable, and I prioritise safety, comfort and a no-rush pace. My approach is grounded in experience and friendliness. I’ve been working full time as a photographer for several years and keep standards high while staying approachable and realistic. You won’t get a hard sell — just a professional, pleasant session and fully edited images that you’ll be proud to display.
