I’m Gill, the photographer behind Mouse About Town, and family photography is at the heart of what I do. Trained in fine art photography at Central Saint Martins, I bring a creative eye and a gentle, friendly approach to every session. Based in Cheltenham, I work across Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, shooting relaxed park sessions, cosy studio portraits at The Mousehole and informal on-location family shoots. My speciality is capturing real family moments — the small, everyday interactions that feel true to you. I favour a natural, documentary-led style with carefully considered portraiture when needed. Whether I’m chasing a toddler through the trees, settling a newborn for a quiet close-up, or guiding a large extended family into one memorable group shot, my aim is always the same: to create images that feel honest, warm and timeless. Working with children and babies requires patience and play, and I love that part of the job. My sessions are relaxed and unpressured — I encourage play, laughter and gentle prompts rather than stiff posing. This helps camera-shy children and grown-ups feel at ease, so their personalities come through. For newborn and baby work I take a discreet, calm approach, allowing the little ones to settle and capturing those fleeting early expressions. I also photograph milestone moments such as birthdays, baptisms and family gatherings, bringing the same documentary sensibility and attention to detail. My experience across studio and location work means I can adapt to whatever you prefer — a bright park backdrop in summer, moody autumnal fields, or a comfortable studio setting for portraits.
