I’m Hannah Hodgson — a Carshalton-based photographer whose work is rooted in documentary-style family portraiture. Family is at the heart of everything I do: I’m drawn to the small, honest moments that make up family life — the messy breakfasts, the quiet snuggles, the chaotic giggles. My aim is to preserve those fleeting connections with warmth, honesty and a sense of time. Why choose me? My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive. Rather than a string of posed shots, I look for the real interactions — the gestures, expressions and tiny rituals that tell your family’s story. The images I create are personal, emotive and designed for everyday life: frames for your walls, pages in your family album, keepsakes for generations. How I work with you: sessions are gentle and flexible. I combine unobtrusive documentary observation with light-guided portrait moments to help even camera-shy children settle and be themselves. My priority is to create a calm atmosphere where laughter and natural behaviour can emerge. I listen to what’s important to you — heirlooms, routines, or places that hold memory — and weave those elements into the shoot so the final images feel intimate and true. My background in documentary photography and years of working with families inform both my visual style and my patience. I’m passionate about recording family life as it is, not as a glossy version of itself. Beyond family portraiture I also run creative workshops and art‑and‑wellbeing clubs — a gentle, secondary strand of my work that supports children and new parents through creative practice.
