I’m Emma, a local Carlisle photographer with a degree in Photography and a decade of experience turning everyday moments into keepsakes. I specialise in family photography, and my aim is simple: capture real connection, emotion and the small details you’ll want to return to for years to come. My approach is relaxed, friendly and rooted in the great outdoors. I use natural light and the landscape of Cumbria as my studio, creating timeless images rather than chasing trends. Sessions are designed to feel casual and comfortable so your children can play, laugh and be themselves—those unplanned moments are often the best images. I give gentle direction where needed, but mostly I blend into the background to document natural interaction, expressions and gestures that show the truth of family life. Working with me is easy and enjoyable. Before the shoot we’ll have a quick chat to choose a location that reflects your family’s personality and feels comfortable for everyone. On the day I focus on making the session feel like a relaxed walk or playtime rather than a formal photo appointment—fun and frolicking is highly encouraged. My goal is to keep everyone at ease so even camera-shy kids can relax and parents can be present with their loved ones. Family photography with me also extends to the earliest chapters of parenthood. I photograph children and newborns with sensitivity and care—newborn work is gently styled to include parents and siblings when wanted, ensuring the whole family is part of the story. Maternity sessions are another lovely way to document the lead-up to a new arrival and sit naturally within the family story I aim to tell. Based in Carlisle and proud of this place I call home, I love using local settings to create meaningful, story-led images.
