Hello — I’m Vicki from Thistle & Blue Photography. I specialise in family photoshoots around Canvey Island and across Essex, creating warm, natural images that celebrate the real, everyday connections between parents, children and babies. My style is relaxed and unposed: no cheesy smiles, no awkward directions, just gentle guidance to capture the moments that mean the most. I work with families in whichever setting suits you best — my little garden studio in Eastwood/Leigh-on-Sea, a favourite outdoor spot timed for golden-hour light, or a lifestyle session in your own home. Sessions are child-led and paced around your family so children, babies and siblings have time to relax, play and show their personalities. I believe the best photos come when people are comfortable and having fun, so I aim to create a friendly, easy atmosphere from the moment you arrive. My approach is intentionally simple: minimal props, timeless styling from the studio wardrobe, and a handful of signature pieces such as my faux bed and wooden toys. For younger babies I follow a baby-led policy — you’ll never feel rushed and I only photograph one family per day for newborn and baby sessions. For first birthdays I offer joyful cake-smash and miniature tub sessions that document those messy, memorable celebrations with plenty of patience and care. Families often tell me they love how I get everyone involved — even reluctant dads and shy little ones — by using humour, games and a few well-timed silly noises. I bring experience photographing babies, children and full family groups, and I make sure every session is relaxed, authentic and tailored to your needs. Pets are welcome for outdoor family shoots and I’ll always advise on the best time and location for the light and mood you want.
