Hi, I’m Catherine — the photographer behind CMS Photography, based in Little Hallingbury on the edge of Bishops Stortford. Family photography is at the heart of my work: I specialise in creating relaxed, honest portraits that families love to display in their homes. With a cosy studio overlooking fields and horses, or a favourite outdoor location, I aim to capture natural connections and the small, true moments that tell your family’s story. My approach is calm and unhurried. Whether you’re bringing newborns, toddlers or older children, I work with patience and a gentle sense of humour to put everyone at ease. I encourage parents to join in — even simple silhouettes or hands holding a little one become some of the most treasured images. Sessions are always tailored to your family: you can choose studio or outdoor settings, discuss colour palettes or props beforehand, and I’ll suggest outfit ideas so your portraits sit beautifully in your home. I’ve spent years training with experienced photographers across the UK and I bring that care and technical knowledge to every shoot. I keep sessions child-led and relaxed, allowing time for feeding, settling and the natural flow of family life — that’s when the best smiles and expressions appear. After your session you’ll be invited back for a relaxed viewing appointment where we’ll choose the images you love and look at artwork options using my wall-visualiser so you can see how pieces will sit in your home. I’m proud to work with trusted local suppliers for milestone shoots and to provide a wide selection of professional finishes — from framed prints to canvases and acrylics — all produced by top photographic labs.
