I’m Joss — a family photography specialist based in Bedlington, welcoming families to a warm, home-from-home studio and travelling to favourite local locations across Northumberland and the North East. My work is rooted in a bright, airy and natural aesthetic: I photograph real moments rather than forcing stiff poses, so your images feel timeless, authentic and full of personality. Why choose me? I’m a mum who understands how quickly children change, and I bring patience, gentle direction and a calm energy to every session. Whether you’re booking a maternity shoot, a newborn session, a sitter shoot, a cake-smash or a relaxed family photoshoot on the beach or in the countryside, my priority is to make everyone feel comfortable and to capture the connections that matter most. My approach is baby-led and unposed. For newborns I create a calm environment and move at your baby’s pace — comforting feeds, gentle settling and careful, considered handling are all part of the session. For babies and children I use playful prompts and natural interactions to encourage real smiles and laughter, not awkward, contrived poses. For families I blend candid documentary moments with a few guided portraits so you end the session with a gallery of honest, emotive images and a handful of beautiful group shots. I love small details: the way a parent’s hand cradles a tiny foot, a sibling’s curious glance, the messy delight of a first birthday cake. My studio is set up to feel like a safe, cosy extension of your home with neutral backdrops, simple wraps and a curated wardrobe for mums and little ones. If you prefer outdoors, I’ll suggest local locations I know well — beaches, dunes and characterful countryside — where I can capture your family playing naturally together. Working with me is relaxed and friendly. I’ll send helpful pre-shoot tips to prepare, guide you gently during the session and treat your family with the care and respect you deserve. My aim is to create images that transport you back to this time: bright, honest and full of the little moments that become cherished memories.
